THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond her legal profession as she actively served as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships and financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
