Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, property distribution in marital relationships child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions, as well as issues involving children's welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid litigation and court processes.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrates her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law such as divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships as well in estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with a commitment to providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
